Club Person of the Year Award
Club Person of the Year Award
The Vikings' Club Person of the Year is the most distinguished award handed out at the Club’s annual Senior Presentation Ceremony. When the award was instigated the blurb for it read: “In appreciation of a job well done. The Vikings’ most prestigious award. Determined by the President and awarded for outstanding commitment throughout the season to he or she who has been deemed to be the Club Person of the Year”.
Originally this honour was named the President’s Award the name proposed by Lance Kedward and taken from a corresponding award that was presented by his former Sydney sub districts team Smithfield RUFC and so named as the winner was selected by the incumbent Club President. In 2007 the then Viking’s President, Chris Trutwein, changed the name to the David McCormack President’s Award in response to Dave’s untimely death that year.
The David McCormack President’s Award is the only Viking award that can be won by a player or non player from either sex. Every Viking member, every year, is eligible to win this presentation judged by their deeds enacted throughout that season. We have had some celebrated Vikings take out this award over the years. It might be your turn this coming season.
